Totally feel this!! ➡️ "It’s taken me time to let go of the guilt I feel around this. But I’m learning that presence matters to me and presence is the most natural when a friendship fits within the real, ordinary rhythms of my life. And right now, that means proximity matters."

Also, I've always thought there should be more conversation around the nature of friendships... That they come and go (especially when you move) and that's okay!

I feel like social media and FaceTime trick us into believing we can still have the same kind of friendship that we always did despite the distance. Proximity IS important! And we can value each set of friends and each friendship season for what it was, but there's really nothing that can replace needing face to face people close by!

Yes! Whenever I take long breaks from socials I realize how it gives me a false sense of connection with people that I’m not otherwise connected to. If I can’t get in contact with people outside of socials then we can’t really have a deep friendship. I also find what you said to be so true! I have a few cherished long distance friends but there’s nothing worse than needing someone in real life whether it’s for a favor or in a hard season of life and realizing your go to people are too far away!
