“Good for her, not for me” is literally carrying me through all the things with motherhood and just being a young adult in this day and age.
I also loved how you talked about the Lord moving at a much slower pace than we do. It reminds me of something Lisa Harper (love her so much!) said where Jesus’s ministry moved at a pace of 3mph, essentially saying how he moved slow enough to really see people and be present with them. It was very inspiring considering how fast-paced our world is.
Yesss I feel that way too! And oh wow! I hadn’t heard of that from Lisa Harper but it’s so true! That is such a beautiful way of putting it. Presence!!
Need this reminder as a new mama! I’ve taken a long look at my limitations this Christmas and have found rest that I don’t need to explain them to everyone. I just need to be at peace with what I can/cannot handle.
I love this line: "No one is asking me to perform my way through December." Trying to remember this myself as it's our kids' first Christmas with us and lots of people are asking if we're making it "really special" (like a big production). Since we're still in adjustment mode and finally settling into life... the answer is no. Right now, "really special" means staying in our pjs and watching a Christmas movie and snuggling on the couch. "Really special" means laughing (instead of crying) when they make a giant mess everywhere. "Really special" means just bonding and relaxing together. And that IS really special.
Yes!!! The big production is often trading in something else that I think is of much higher value…real rest, connection with people you love, space for reflection.
Yes yes yes!

Yes! That piece of not needing to explain or attempt at justifying those limitations is so real. I'm so glad you are embracing that in this season.
